  • Baking update

    1. Hypocrite Pie:

    • my basic lard based crust is still totally awesome (urm, that is: Bernard Clayton’s Basic Crust from the Complete Book of Pastry)
    • my apples were not shy – they floated right up to the top.
    • the custard didn’t quite jell. Maybe I should have not poured the butter/juice mix from the frying pan in with the apples? It looked too yummy to leave out.

    Overall it was really good, if not quite as neat and pretty as expected. Lasted ~24 hours with only two eaters. I will probably make it again in a few weeks.

    2. Apple Scones:

    Scones can do no wrong. Make more scones. Eat more scones. Nom nom nom.
