  • Blah. Today I'm staying in, since I've been feeling off all week. I figure a day of taking a nap if I feel like it and not having to worry about being anywhere should help. *crosses fingers*

    To do:

    1. Math Stat hw 8
    2. Econ hw
    3. Simulate a simple queue

    Extra:

    1. Analysis 5.1 and 5.2
    2. A couple of Prob Modeling hw's - total of about 10 questions though.

And this weekend, I'd like to cook some apple-y things. We've got a few that we got from the neighbor tree that drops them in our yard, and they're either about to go bad or already made it. So even if I'm too late for them, I want some ideas to have handy for next year. (There's always pie. and I have been getting weird and doing strange pie things where I just fill a crust with goo and fold it in.. which I could do small ones of and freeze. Individual pies don't keep very well.)

  • Dentist visit happened - I think they are less scary than the previous dentist.

Vet visit happened - Gustav has doggie pain meds that are small enough to embed in pb for eating. We'll keep at it on glucosamine, and remember the maintenance dose this time. Today we'll hear if there was anything weird with his bloodwork.

In btwn, went to school for Operations Research seminar. Guest lecturer was interesting, but his ideas seem too good to be true. Maybe sometimes, people really do make breakthroughs.

Econ teacher still hasn't posted the homework he said he would post last week. I'm curious when he thinks people work on it.

Second Math Stat test went better than the first - and if I had studied better, I would have done just fine. oh well.

    to do:

    1. Fix my queuing simulation stats.
    2. Econ homework if it ever gets posted

    to read:

    1. math stat ch 3

    extra:

    1. analysis 4.4 and 4.5
    2. prob hw
    3. prob project

Seems like I should knock a lot of this off this weekend, but really I will probably bake things and read mystery novels instead.

  • gave up on the abs and back class - need more time on fridays.

found the econ seminars - that's why i need more time on fridays!

made Martha Stewart's Iced Oatmeal Applesauce Cookies (un-iced, but I'm giving you the full name since they seem to not be online directly, so it should aid in searching.) they were a huge hit and probably displace our more traditional oatmeal cookie recipe.

    math state test two tuesday.

dentist appts all round next weekend.

    to do:

    1. math stat hw 7
    2. econ hw 4
    3. some crazy queueing simulation problem. will resist urge to implement in excel.
    4. study for math stat

    to read:

    1. simulation ch 6

    extra:

    1. analysis 4.2 and 4.3

  • Last week we made: Atomic Canuck Chili  minus the veggies, jalapenos and sugar; and plus cayenne instead of the second round of red pepper. Taste was good, but not what we're used to. Perfect amount of hot though. mmmm. Makes a lot - we've probably had 6 or 7 individual meals out of it so far and theres 3 or 4 left.

Monday, made Best Cocoa Brownies rather than finish my math stat homework. Not sure if the saucepan step really lets them count as easy, but they are the richest, chocolatey-est brownies I've had that came from cocoa powder. Will probably make another round this weekend and see if caramel swirls work with it.

    to do:

    1. math stat hw 6
    2. econ hw 3 (he never posted it last week.)
    3. couple of simulation problems
    4. go over math stat test 1 and come up with more coherent questions than "I have absolutely no idea how to do this." esp since that isn't even a question. ( I got a B - that must have be some curve)

    to read:

    1. simulation ch 5

    extra:

    1. analysis 3.5 and 4.1
    2. probability project bit?

and... find a dentist. no fun! (not an emergency - just trying to be good and stay up on checkups)

  • to do

    1. math stat homework 5
    2. two more problems for simulation
    3. next econ hw

    to read

    1. math stat ch 3
    2. econ ch 2

    extra

    1. analysis 3.3 and 3.4
    2. prob homeworks 3 and 4

And make a point of making something that causes leftovers.. maybe homemade chili. Any ideas?

  • whoa

some kind of hawk like bird flew across our yard, smack into the glass door to the back of the garage. He immediately shook himself off and took off again.

  • Nature abhors a vaccuum

and apparently my econ teacher abhors a weekend with a small amount of homework

    To do:

    1. Last question on Math Stat Hw 4
    2. Type up Econ Hw 1 - due Today (yes, I should have done it already)
    3. Econ Hw2
    4. Start Simulation Hw

    To read:

    1. Math Stat Ch 2
    2. Econ Ch2?

    Extra:

    1. Analysis 3.1 and 3.2
    2. Read Prob Modeling Ch 4
    3. Prob Modeling Hw
    4. Tiny piece of Prob Modeling Project

Hrm. that actually doesn't look so bad spelled out.

  • one of those signs that I am nuts

There's a group of OCS (Marines?) that I see doing their little run/stop and do pushups/run up stairs etc on campus. Despite having just survived a class at the gym and carrying a bag of mcdonalds and the fact that they are all probably 5 years younger than me, I really wanted to join right in and see if I could keep up.
