    1. finish applying for master's degree. did the online piece this morning
    2. read those last two chapters of mgb
    3. get new bus pass and maybe id with new name (who really looks at the student id though? and a replacement is $10. yes, I am cheap.)
    4. bank run (tiny todo, but I keep trying to forget it!)
    5. paint around garage doors.
    6. make scones. we do already have sour cream, so I can make plain or raisin ones. but i want orange/cranberry for some reason...

I hate that nagging feeling that I'm forgetting something...

  • useless weekend

I read something like 5 books, watched 2 movies, baked two new kinds of bread (french bread worked great, pitas didn't) and on sunday I actually got a respectable amount of MGB read. ugh. Two short chapters left and I will meet my goal of reading an entire stats book this summer. Got name changed on joint account - and then remembered we should tell insurances. bah.

  • procrastination at its super finest

"right this minute would be a really great time to clean out my bathroom drawers"

Any one have any idea what to do with that jewelry that you just had to have 10 years ago, but seriously will never actually wear again? I'm thinking of shipping it to the only under 18s I know - (Heather, would Kat dig it, you think?)

  • what, leave the HOUSE?!

ok, I guess I have been at least to run local errands. But today, today I will actually go to school.

Where I will hopefully find out the truth behind the rumor that my advisor has officially resigned. :(

I've got a list of 5 things to do there - which I won't post because _4_ of them depend on people being there on a friday in the summer. bah. The only one I'm pretty sure of is the name change - and I'm also pretty sure this is the last place I need to do it at!

I got a new cell phone! It is shiny. and that rumor that Verizon locks down phones so you can't bluetooth them to your comp? totally false, at least with my mac. But it is so new that iSync says "I don't know you." So long as this one doesn't drop calls so much, it's all gravy. And how geeky cool is it that it powers over mini-USB? :)

work excitement: next week my "Dynamic HTML: the Definitive Guide" comes in - and I can join the 21st century in web design. CSS was making me feel old. It's kind of a cheezy little extra skill to have - but if at any point I am going to throw together webpages, they should be as nifty as they can be!

  • I'm awfully lazy for such high expectations

We've reached that horrible point in the summer - the end is in sight. Classes start in exactly 1 month.

Almost every summer I start with really unrealistic ideas of how much I'm going to get done. (There was that one summer where all I did was work part time and read a book a day. That was a really good idea.) This summer isn't going too bad. I'm behind on my stats book - but not insanely behind. And I totally stalled on my "read one academic paper each week" (it seems like a really good habit to establish... and one that if I can't might be pointing out that maybe I'm not all that interested in this research crap.) I have econ journals that have sat on my desk for a YEAR in hopes that I will read one article out of them. ugh.

On to the to do list for this weekend:

    1. Driver's License with new name
    2. Call credit card companies and get cards in new name? no idea what proof they'll want
    3. Finish chapter 5, get through 6 and start 7 of MGB
    4. Heck, try reading one of these papers.
    5. order new UNT transcripts - doing this right now!

Rest of summer to do list:

    1. sign up for class at other campus (which seems to involve petitioning the dean to let me.. )
    2. sort out my "residency" requirement - though the year that I'm taking a class at another campus may not be a good time for this!
    3. apply for math masters for Dec (hrm... count classes again - since they're not offering anything, will this work?)

  • unrelated randoms

    1. I pulled my first white hair last night. I'm sad I pulled it, but I wasn't sure it was white until then. This makes me hopefully that I will inherit the full head of gorgeous silver hair instead of the muddy looking grey. I'm excited.

    2. Daiquiri recipe made of things that were already in my fridge:

    • 4 large frozen strawberries
    • 1/2~3/4 cup crystal light knockoff
    • 1 shot rum

mmmm mmm. What beats yummy AND easy?

  • another week

as far as getting things done, the weekend was a loss - but that's not the only measurement in the world.

some friends I haven't seen in a loooong time came to visit. I think it went well, and it proves that the guest room, downstairs bath, and kitchen are fully functional.

and that the non-latching door on the guest room is what I want to fix before the next visitors.
