It's moving fast
Math Clinic:
- redo homework to specifications. Should be easy
- Go to library and get two books to satisfy group and indiv. research requirements.
- Get some fwd momentum out of group. Only one member of which has responded to the initial email, and of the other two, one was still talking about dropping the course last I checked.
- Read the paper that explains what he means precisely about the group member jobs. I am E for encourager, but I will not be surprised if that is also E for enforcer.
Math Stat:
- Homework 1
- Read H&C on order statistics (but don't stress if I don't find time to. he explains things very clearly, and KK LOVES these so I have a decent basis.)
Econ:
- Read a paper (ooo. the effects of compulsory schooling! ooo)
- Go to seminar this afternoon - if not tooo swamped, take the speaker/interview candidate for coffee first.
It's ridiculous how much I love econ.

Who's to say she's wrong?
This is too sweet to not pass on.

KOLACHES!
Recipe
We only made sausage ones. (I wish I had been patient enough to add cheese at least.. ) I'll have to do some thinking/research about sweet fillings. They're recognizably kolaches - which means awesome! This is really going to help my "what do I pack for lunch?" this semester - just bring a few kolaches! woo!
It took about 4 hrs (most of which was letting things rise) and made 14.

oh uhm ... school? a routine? dang
It's going to be a very reading semester.
To do: Nothing, unless you count organizing notebooks and printing things out so I can read them and mark them up.
To read:
- Two econ papers
- Two chapters of math stat (out of a cute little undergrad book! I used excerpts from it when I was in business school! Ah, the nostalgia.)
- Putter about on the math clinic website, start reading background materials. Generally be ready to join in when Harvey gets all excited about stuff.
and I'll probably go meet an Econ interviewee (free coffee!) and go to his talk this afternoon. Someone should be excited about new macro classes at him!

Robyn Lee's Killer Big Fat Chewy Chocolate Chip Breakfast Cookies
4/5 - could be chewier.
You know those oversized cookies you get at coffeeshops? You too can make them. They are good.
I left out the salt because I used salted butter, and cut the cook time to 21 minutes (which might be a high altitude thing.. )
I don't know how good an idea it will be to have one for breakfast, but I think I'll find out tomorrow.

Recipe review
I tried my first no-knead bread recipe in the continuing attempt to make yummy dinner rolls. First off - it was a success! They have a great texture, and a slightly strange taste, but I can't pin it down. Not a BAD taste, just unique.
Modifications:
I split her recipe in half.
I made the initial dough Sunday night, pulled it out Monday, got it to room temp and shaped it, then refridgerated again. Brought it back to room temp and baked Tuesday night.
I made little baby fist sized lumps in 9" cake rounds so that they shoved up against each other.I'm still up for trying other rolls recipes: scalding the milk is weird and gets more things dirty, and even without the fridge rest breaks, it would have taken ages (I think that's typical of no-knead recipes.) Also, I LIKE kneading.

should hear by end of the week
No clue how I did. Feel good about 4 of them, ok about the 5th, and hopeful of partial credit on the 6th. No one sounds much more sure than that though, so there's hope.
yay for post prelim beer!

AAAAAAAAAAAAA
test is monday.
I'll be spending the time between now and then either studying or totally goofing off in an attempt to burn off stress so I am not a gibbering sleepless wreck on the big day. I am very scared.
